Food I Made/Recipe

Hey! Here's food that I made recently and my review with recipes~

Shakshuka

Ingredients:

Preamble:

Just by looking at the ingredients, you can kind of see how simple and invariable this recipe is. My turkish friend told me the importance of the juicy taste of the meal, but also explained that this was the peak uni struggle meal - filled with veggies, cheap, and relatively simple. To be honest, I'm inexperienced when it comes to cooking new foods, but this was pretty simple; it only required the chopping of a couple of things and the process did not require any specific skill. One note before you read the instructions - the best part about this meal is that you can change alot of the ingredients and add your own variants, and it still works. If you know your spices, or have certain veggies you want to throw in, go right ahead. Try to keep a consistent ratio of said veggies to the others so that they don't overpower each other.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare a average sized pan, a spatula, a cutting board, and a couple of bowls. (Wash your utensils)
  2. Cut up the 1/2 of an onion and put it in a bowl. Do the same with the bell pepper and the peppers.
  3. Cut up the cilantro/basil; can be haphazard but will come in handy later.
  4. Put the tomato pulp/tomatoes into a bowl and squish them until they are much more paste like.
  5. Start up the pan on medium heat on the stovetop and apply a healthy amount of olive oil on (lets just say 3 spoons. is that enough for you? grow up and start randomly guessing things)
  6. Put the onions on the pan and cook for a minute or so, and when they start browning add the peppers and bell peppers.
  7. Once they evenly cooked put the tomato paste in. Throw the spices in and mixed for 2-3 minutes while reducing heat.
  8. If you're happy with the consistency (just not too cooked but mixed up) crack two eggs in and cover with lid and put on low low heat. let cook for 5-6 mins (however long it takes for eggs cooked inside to cook while still being liquidy, or what americans call over easy?)
  9. Take lid off and drizzle in cilantro and feta cheese. You can eat straight off the pan or put on plate. Enjoy!
